This video is all about the Urdu and Hindi, which can be referred to together as Hindustani. It is one of the major languages of the Subcontinent. This guy pretty much sums up the history and influence of the language so I recommend you to watch this video before jumping into any heated discussion.

I'll make this easier for you.

Urdu = natural evolution of Kharboli and Persian merging together in the 12th century. Written in Nastaliq. Had many names including Hindavi, Hindi, Hindustani, Dakkani to name a few.

Hindi = a fake language invented in 1881 by North Indian Hindu extremists who opposed Urdu becoming an official language of British India. Nastaliq script was replaced with Nagri and Persian/Arabic sounding words were replaced with English/Sanskrit words.

This is why Urdu sounds so classy while Hindi sounds absolutely disgusting.
