Pakistani companies bullish on ME orders

ABU DHABI ââ¬â Eleven Pakistani companies participating in IDEX-2007 are bullish on fetching good business from Middle eastern and African buyers.
"We are exhibiting ammunition, small arms, battle tank, anti tank missiles, Anti aircraft missile, laser products, Sonars, PCB's, bombs, electronic fuzzes, Air combat instrument systems, tactical simulators to train naval personnel, ERP systems and magnetic ranging and other products manufactured in Pakistan," said Syed Absar Hussain DG Defence Export Promotion Organisation (DEPO),while briefing reporters at Pakistani pavilion.
He said Pakistan is eyeing Middle east, African and Asian markets for its whole range of products. Pakistan's robust defence manufacturing industry is seeking international alliances to meet both the requirements of its armed forces and the following needs of the regional defence forces, provides an ideal platform for defence collaboration. Pakistan's own defence products present a perfect mix of indigenous and foreign technologies, he said. Major General said in order to promote and market its defence industry, Pakistan for the first time, has participated in IDEX 2007 as national pavilion.
Pakistan Pavilion consists of 11 companies both for public and private sectors, who have attracted a large number of delegations and visitors. Many potential buyers have shown their keen interest to purchase to purchase Pakistan made products. The important developments at IDEX this year was Lyra's signing of MOUs for export of Flying Coverall as per USAF MIL Specification for a potential worth of $0.8 million. DEPO chief said that Pakistan also holds a biannual international defence exhibition and seminar (IDEAS) which has achieved a place in the comity of international defence exhibitions.
The next IDEAS 2008 is schedule to be held from November 24 - 28, 2008 at Karachi, Pakistan.
